AGE GROUP DESCRIPTIONS
U5 and U6 Age Groups
Our U5 (pre-K) and U6 (kindergarten) age groups play 4 v 4 on a field 20x 30 yards. The goals are 4x6 feet. There are no goal keepers, and offside is not enforced. Games are officiated by parent volunteers. Both boys and girls teams are offered in these age groups. CLSF may group pre-k and kindergarteners into one age group depending on number of participants.
U7 and U8 Age Groups
Our U7 (1st grade) and U8 (2nd grade) age groups play 5v5 or 6v6 (this includes a goal keeper). The field size is 30x50 yards with goals that are 6x12 feet. Offside is enforced beginning at U7. All free kicks are indirect. Games are officiated by trained referees assigned by CLSF. CLSF may group 1st and 2nd graders into one age group depending on number of participants. Both boys and girls teams are offered.
U10 Age Group
Our U10 (3rd grade and 4th grade) age group plays either 7 v 7 or 8 v 8. The field size is 50x70 yards and goals are 6x18 feet. The Laws of the Game governing direct and indirect free kicks are introduced at this level. Both boys and girls teams are offered.
U12 Age Group
The U12 age group (5th and 6th grades) plays 9v9. Field size is 60x90 yards and goals are 7x21 feet. Assistant referees are also assigned to games beginning at this level. Both boys and girls teams are offered.
U14 Age Group
The U14 age group (7th and 8th grades) plays 11v11. Fields are 70x110 yards and goals 8x24 feet. Both boys and girls teams are offered.
Boys High School Rec League
Boys Rec High School Soccer League (HSSL) teams (grades 9-12 play an 8-week session beginning in April and ending by the second weekend in June. Registration begins in January. All games are played on Sundays at Lippold Park. This league is popular for those players who wish to participate with their friends in organized league games, but are unable to practice due to school or other commitments.
Girls High School Rec League
Girls High School Rec teams (grades 9-12), play in the Northern Illinois High School Recreational Soccer League commonly refererred to as the Blackmore League. League matches are played Sundays in the late summer and fall. Home matches are played at Lippold Park. Teams will travel to play teams in other communities. Teams may also participate in NIHSRSL sponsored tournaments. Scheduling of these tournaments is not under the control of CLSF. Participation in such tournaments is determined by the team coach. Some additional costs (including uniform as needed and tournament fees) may be expected
